The Role of Silicon in Suppressing Rice Diseases

چکیده
Some of these soil orders such as Ultisols and Oxisol account for 34% of the area of major soil orders in the tropics. These orders occupy great amounts of land (approximately 1,666 million hectares) in Africa and South and Central America (Fig. 2). Histosols and sandy Entisols also contain low levels of Si (57). As a result of Si leaching, the soluble Si content of tropical soils, such as Ultisols and Oxisols, is generally less than in most temperate soils (16). This might be one of the unidentified causes of lower rice productivity of many Fig. 1. A simplified acid weathering sequence in soils. Source: Friesen et al. (17). Monascin ameliorate inflammation in the lipopolysaccharide-induced BV-2 microglial cells via suppressing the NF-κB/p65 pathway
Objective(s): The pathophysiology of neurodegenerative diseases is complicated, in which inflammatory reactions play a vital role. Microglia cells activation, an essential process of neuroinflammation, can produce neurotoxic molecules and neurotrophic factors, which aggravate inflammation and neuronal injury. Monascin, a major component of red yeast rice, is an azaphil...
متن کاملImproving Rice (Oryza sativa L.) Drought Tolerance by Suppressing a NF-YA Transcription Factor
The response to drought stress is a complicated process involving stress sensing, intracellular signaltransduction, and the execution of a cellular response. Transcription factors play important roles in the signaling pathways including abiotic stress. In the present study a rice NF-YA transcription factor gene was partially characterized following dehydration. Disrupting the gene via a T...

Silicon is as an essential element for crops and an important food source for the growth of rice plant. If no adequate replacement for this element, plants are faced with a shortage of silicon causing serious eating disorder and instability in plant resistance to pests. This research was done to investigate the effect of silicon on growth, yield and tolerance to rice stem borer in Tarom Hashemi...
متن کاملSynthesis of Three - Dimensional Mesoporous Silicon from Rice Husk via SHS Route
Silicon nanoparticles are the focus of attention thanks to their potentialities in advanced applications such as new batteries, photovoltaic cells and so on. The need to porous silicon is thus rising and will follow the same trend. In this work, highly porous nanostructured silicon is synthesized via Self-propagating high-temperature synthesis (SHS) route. Microstructural and phase analyses sho...

This study was conducted to investigate the effects of different silicon supplements and postharvest treatments on growth and yield of gerbera in a greenhouse experiment. Silicon supplements were including potassium silicate at three concentrations (0, 140 and 200 mg L−1), sodium silicate at three concentrations (0, 50 and 100 mg L−1) and rice hull ash (RHA) at three concentrations (0, 50 and 1...
